Can we rewind February?

My goodness how time flies. I can hardly believe we are already towards the end of February.  Wasn't it just December?!  Even though February is a short month we always seem to jam pack it full of fun activities. Of course it helps that it is also my birthday month.  There are a few reasons why it took me so long to get these pictures on here.  First of all, Travis was sick at the beginning of the month.  He had his usual sinus infection plus strep throat.   Then it was my birthday.  After that fun weekend I came down with strep throat. Yes, mom got sick.  Can I tell you how hard it is when the mom gets so sick that she sleeps through an entire day?  I haven't been sick like that in years.  It wiped me out. When I finally came out of my daze from being sick (I think it took me 3 days to recover completely) I realized that I lost the cord to my old camera that allows me to download my pictures.  (Getting older stinks by the way...).  We have several different cameras around here. I have grandpa's nice camera, my old camera, and the new one I got for Christmas.  Today I went to Costco and just got a CD of the pictures from my old camera. I guess we will have to stop using it for awhile. Of course unless I find that cord.  Finally, it has taken me all evening to get these pictures uploaded to the blog.  Things were not cooperating. To make things even better Travis is sick again.  As usual for him he finished his medicine on Wednesday and he is sick again.  Hopefully we can bi pass the whole strep throat part though.  Anyway, here are some pictures of what the boys have been up to. The first ones are from the day they went to the Fan Fest for the Dbacks.

Here are the boys with Chris Young and Craig Breslow. Evidently Connor kept asking them for Justin Upton.  They just laughed. Good thing they have a good sense of humor! (If you don't know, Justin is perhaps the most popular player on the team....)
Not sure... looks like they are waiting to take their turn at bat.
Connor at the plate!
 Travis takes a turn.
Travis and Connor got to meet one of the owners of the team. If you look closely you can see that he is letting Travis hold his World Series ring! How cool is that?!
Connor just LOVES these guys!

Finally it was Valentine's Day.  I got the boys some little trinkets but Grandma from California also sent a box full of stuff. She wrapped each item individually in red tissue paper.  They enjoyed opening everything up.  Here they are ready to dig in to their "stash"!

Travis loved this little guy. It reminds him of Blue!
Connor was wondering what was in here....
WAX LIPS!  Too funny! He enjoyed playing around with these lips from Grandma.
They both came home from school that day with bags full of valentines and of course candy.  The funny part is that Connor has gone through just about all of his candy.  (Not that he had that much, a few suckers and such.)  However, when I checked Travis' bag today I noticed that just about all of his is still there. Connor definitely is my child with the sweet tooth!  It seems he takes after me in that department.  I love celebrating Valentine's Day with my kids. It's one of my favorite little holidays, probably because it is also so close to my birthday. I always feel like my birthday goes from February 11th to the 14th.  I know, I am a little silly like that!

I don't have any pictures just yet... but yes, little league has also started! They had their first practice this week and they have a cute and energetic little team.  A bunch of the boys go to our school and several are also in Travis' class.  This is going to be fun for him. The downside is that we are still playing soccer.  This means that Travis (and Daryle since he is coaching both) have either a practice or a game almost every night for two weeks.  The good part about this is that it wears. him. out. Boy does he sleep well these days!

Let's back up a bit...

Every year since Travis was around 3 Daryle has been taking him to the Monster Truck show. Ever since they went last year Daryle has been so excited to also take Connor this coming year.  He bought the tickets a few months before the event for him, his dad, Travis and  Connor.  As the time got closer we started to talk to Connor about it a bit and he was getting sooo excited to go.  They watch it on tv, we have a monster truck game for the Wii, and he plays a game on the iTouch.  Not to mention we have a ton of these trucks around the house.  Connor knows all of the truck's names. He was ready to go.  As luck would have it poor Mr. Connor got sick the night before.  He caught a tummy bug.  Mix a three year old with a tummy bug and still working on certain aspects of potty training and you have a big mess.  Needless to say, Connor didn't get to go.  He was such a trooper though.  All day I kept hoping that it would pass.... I think we went through 12 pairs of underwear that day... but no it just stayed the same. He couldn't make it to the bathroom fast enough.  Finally I had to start prepping him for the possibility that he might not be able to go.  He took it all in stride. He told me, "Mom, it's ok. Sometimes you get sick and  you just have to miss things."  Wow.  He is pretty wise for a 3 year old!  Luckily dad took pictures and texted them to us the whole time. I think it made him feel like he was there, even though he wasn't. They did bring him home a t-shirt. He has not taken it off much. Last week I literally had to do the wash daily just so he could wear it again the next day.  Otherwise he would have a meltdown.  So when you look at the pictures, that is why Connor was not there. I was teasing Travis that he wasn't smiling in some of the pictures because he was sad Connor wasn't there.  He didn't really argue much with me. He took it harder than Connor did.  But when he saw how Connor was handling it he was ok with it.  Even though Connor missed out, the rest of the boys had a great time.

Hopefully next year everybody will be healthy and able to go.  For now Connor keeps looking at these pictures.  He thinks he was driving these trucks!  Such an imagination.

Lordy, Lordy, Look Who's Forty!!

As much as I hate to admit it, yes, I am now 40 years old. One day I will look back and wish I was 40 just like now I wish I was only 30 again.  40 isn't so bad.  They say 40 is the new 20. Or something to that effect.  You are only as old as you feel, right?  Anyway, last Saturday was my "big day".  On Friday my husband sent me the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries to work.  Oh. My. Goodness.  They were delicious!  He has never sent me those before, so that was a pleasant surprise. Then when I came home from work that night he told me he had to go pick up my birthday present. I knew something was going on by this time. Travis told me it was too big for him to carry.  My brother called me twice. My mom called me. I was getting suspicious.  Finally Daryle called and told me to go to my bedroom and wait to be called out.  So I did. When I came out there was one of my very dear friends, Stephanie!!  We have been friends since high school.  She flew in from California just to celebrate my special day with me. What a great friend she is. And to think I didn't get one picture of us together the whole weekend... we were just having too much fun!   I was thrilled she flew in for little "old" me.  I then found out that I was going to lunch the next day with my mom and grandma (along with Stephanie, of course) and we would get pedicures and just have a relaxing day.  Daryle made plans to  take the boys to the Dbacks Fan Fest.  A no kid day for me. It was nice but also a little strange not having the kiddos around after they left in the morning.  I did get a good dose of them when I woke up though. I got out of bed for a minute and when I came back all three of them were waving birthday cards at me.  It was so cute.  Later that morning Daryle surprised me again by arranging for the kids to spend the night with the grandparents (thanks again to all of your for doing this!) while he planned a surprise get together with some of my friends from work. Once again, I was surprised he pulled all of this together!  I have to say it was a great weekend.
Who are we kidding.... this girl doesn't look a day over... let's say 29!  ha!  Happy Birthday to me! Cheers!
